L.E.N.S. Photo Challenge…A Love of Reading

A Love of Reading

Jen, from Home Is Where You Start From, introduces the L.E.N.S. photo challenge, a photo challenge all about highlighting education and learning together as family.

Rules: Submit a photo that speaks to you about a love of reading, or about sharing a love of reading, what a love of reading looks like, or something along these lines. Get creative!

Since the love of reading in our family resonates from my oldest son’s passion for delving into a wide variety of genres, I dedicate this challenge to my son Sean who turned 17 yesterday. He consistently and continually shares his love for books with his family. His birthday wish list included a variety of characteristic teenage stuff like video games and music, but also included on his list was a very extensive inventory of books that he so enthusiastically wanted to add to his summer reading list. In the picture you’ll see my Nook, an e-reader that my children bought me for Mother’s Day to encourage me to take time out for me to read.

I have a Kodak EasyShare C360 camera that I got in 2004.  For this picture I auto adjusted the color and exposure.  I didn’t crop the picture because I liked the background which shows part of our schoolroom.

  11. Love that you inlcuded part of the schoolroom in your photo! It's great that he's still so into reading!

  12. Don't you love that he's a reader! My kids love books as well. For Adam's 11th birthday, he wanted books at his family party gifts. He didn't want his friends to pick on him about asking for books at his party. We hid his books all over the house and he had to find them. It was a lot of fun. But, it made me feel bad that he felt self concious about his love of reading. I blame TV. The smart kid is always portrayed as the nerd on kid's shows.
I always tell Adam that the kids who read will be the adults who are calling their own shots. I hope I'm right! At least he'll have reading as an escape if I'm not! lol
