The Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes & Other Riches

The Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes & Other Riches is the newest exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and last night Mile High Mamas and Mom It Forward Colorado had the opportunity to check it out. This exclusive members-only adult evening included the exhibition, entertainment, and a gourmet buffet dinner featuring a dozen dishes representing the flavors of South America.

The exhibit had lots of hands-on interactive activities for children and adults and there are some great short videos to view of what lurks beneath the waters.  What really made this exhibit interesting for me was the extremely knowledgeable museum volunteer staff. They share stories and explain facts and fascinating details about the animals that live in the Amazon River and what happens to the River during the wet and dry seasons.  You won’t want to leave this exhibit without feeling a slight electric shock equivalent to that of a small electric eel or trying to lift the 12-foot long life-size Anaconda.

It’s a fabulous museum and a great new exhibit that will be here until January 2, 2011.  Thanks Mile High Mamas, Mom It Forward Colorado, and The Denver Museum of Nature and Science for hosting such an awesome event.
