YLI 2010 National Mock Election!

In August, I wrote a post about The Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI) which provides civic education classroom resources to teachers and students who school at home. It’s absolutely FREE OF CHARGE and a great way to involve students in the American electoral and policymaking process.

Each fall, YLI conducts the largest secure, student-only, online mock election in the nation, using electronic ballots tailored to each student’s home legislative district. The 2010 Mock Election will run from October 18-28 with results being posted on October 29th.

Be sure to check-out the lesson plans comparing the gubernatorial candidates in your state.

Ballots for the nation-wide mock election include House and Senate races, and gubernatorial races for 36 states.

Customize your ballot by adding local or school races.

Choose online or paper ballot voting.

Students learn to participate in the electoral process by voting for real candidates.

With over 30 gubernatorial races in 2010, who will your child vote for?
