Colorado Virtual Academy’s 3rd Graduating Class

Saturday, June 4 was a treasured day for many Colorado Virtual Academy (COVA) families attending COVA’s graduation ceremony at CU Boulder. Bailey, a Graduating Senior and an incredibly talented vocalist, kicked off the ceremony with The National Anthem, followed by the welcome address from COVA’s Head of School, Heidi Heineke. Then we heard from Teri Cady, COVA’s High School Director and our guest speaker, Kathryn Knox, COVA’s Director of School Improvement.
Two Graduating Senior Speakers, Samantha and Alysa shared some remarks followed by a speech from COVA’s Senior Class President and Valedictorian, Sean Cooney.

A huge thank you to Melissa Rojo, COVA Advisor for a phenomenal job creating the Senior Slide Show which elated everyone in the audience as their Senior was pictured on the screen. Lots and lots of hoots and hollers from some very proud parents, family members, and friends of each graduating senior.

The Awards Recognition included acknowledgment of COVA’s Top 10% who reached a 3.8 Total GPA or higher, Honor Roll Students who achieved a 3.5 Total GPA or higher, and students who have been with COVA for 4 years or more.

Each student’s name was read by Heidi Heineke as they walked across the stage to receive their diploma and shake the hands of Teri Cady, Kathryn Knox and two of COVA’s Board Members, Tim Booker and Randy DeHoff.

Then of course what graduation ceremony wouldn’t be complete without the traditional throwing of the caps.

Many heartfelt thanks to COVA’s Graduation Committee for helping to make this event a memorable day for all!
