Colorado Virtual Academy (COVA) qualified for a charter membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) in 2010 and 8 COVA students were inducted as new members in a virtual ceremony held in August. Last night COVA celebrated its 3rd year as a charter member in the National Honor Society and inducted 7 new members to the organization. Members are selected by the chapter’s Faculty Council for meeting high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
The evening was kicked off with a warm welcome fromCOVA’s NHS President, Kaleb Persons and followed by greetings from Teri Cady, COVA’s High School Principal. Ted Scheffelin shared introductions of the current NHS members and Shandra Pankoski introduced the candidates.
Kaleb led the Candle Lighting Ceremony which was followed by the presentation of emblems and membership cards, and Principal’s Awards and Recognitions
Each and every student truly earned their membership in this prestigious national organization for high school students. After listening to introductions from the 18 current NHS members and the 7 NHS Inductees, I was blown away by their dedication and commitment to education, community service, leadership, and character. It was an awe-inspiring evening as we listened to the student’s many accomplishments and aspirations.
Thank you to Cynthia Sheely, NHS Advisor and to the current 2012-13 NHS Faculty Council: Amanda Clark, Eric Greenfield, Shandra Pankoski, Ted Schieffelin, and Cheryl Williams for their support and encouragement to our COVA students.
